It’s already feeling like Summer with temperatures in the mid-80’s and our body’s thirst for hydration is on the rise. Staying cool during warm weather is essential to keeping your family happy and healthy- it also causes a dramatic increase in water usage throughout the season. Here are a few tips on conserving water and beating the heat.
Tip #1- Drink Water
It should go without saying that drinking plenty of water keeps your body hydrated. It is suggested that each person drink 64 ounces of water every day. When spending extra time outside your body needs water to keep cool- we all know this, but how does that really work? Water takes the heat away from your body’s internal organs to prevent heat related exhaustion or stroke. The heat then exits your body in the form of sweat to cool you down. Water sure is amazing!
Tip #2- Do Not Over Water
One of the best things about warmer weather is the beautiful flowers, green grass, and blossoming trees. When you water your yard, it is always best to do so during the morning or evening hours. Watering during the heat of the day is just wasteful. Water is more likely to evaporate during the heat, not really providing your lawn with the hydration it needs to stay beautiful. Grass only needs about one inch of water every 5-7 days. Using more water is just wasted on run-off or evaporation when the ground is too saturated to absorb it quickly.
Tip #3- Shorten Your Shower
After getting hot and sweaty outside, a nice cool shower sounds ideal. But did you know, by shaving just two minutes off of your shower you can save approximately 10-15 gallons of water!
Tip #4- Take It To The Car Wash
Driving around in a clean car, windows down, and the music up always makes for a great day; but don’t waste water making your beauty shine. Going to an automatic car wash uses a third of the water you would use if you hand wash at home. Plus, it saves time and allows for more driving around with the windows down.

Hot Days. Cool Nights. Summertime. What A Delight!
Drinking water is crucial to a healthy life. Not drinking enough water could lead to chronic dehydration and cause serious heart health issues.
Dehydration is a major factor in the initiation of heart disease; potentially starting with high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol. Your blood should consist of 94% water. When you do not drink enough water your blood thickens, slowing down blood flow and increasing cholesterol, using it as a plug to prevent water loss in your cells and, in turn, generating more fat.
It is suggested that everyone drinks half of their body weight in ounces of water each day. This will keep your body hydrated, your blood flowing properly, and maintaining healthy oxygen and nutrient levels.
Drinking your daily amount of water also helps to yield off minor illnesses, regulate your body temperature, and keep your joints lubricated and your mind focused.
No other beverage compares to the benefits of plain water. If your water needs disinfected, filtered, or your well needs serviced to provide safe and healthy drinking water, leave it to the professionals. Call Croft.
